Samoa's Ministry of Finance has banned cell phone calls from its landline system after a phone bill for the last two months of last year reached more than 25 thousand US dollars.
Much of the cost is from staff calling mobiles.
A ministry source has suggested the ministry could introduce a code which will allow for the monitoring of phone use by individual staff.
