American Samoa's election office is making sure high school students graduating this year register for the November general election.

The chief election officer says election officials will be at Leone High School today and students aged 18 or turn 18 before November 4 will be urged to register to vote.

Soliai Tuipine says one of the goals for the election office is to make sure students heading off island to college are registered to ensure they able to vote absentee.

Under local law, the qualified elector must register in person in American Samoa to qualify to vote by absentee ballot.

The Election Office is taking voter registration to school campuses to make it easy for students to register.
