Sacked members of Fiji's GCC oppose application by the State

The sacked members of Fiji's Great Council of Chief have opposed the application by the State to stay or transfer their judicial review case to another judge.

The former GCC chairman, Ratu Ovini Bokini, Bau chief Ratu Epenisa Cakobau and Nadroga chiefs Ratu Sakiusa Makutu and Ratu Ratavo Lalabalavu filed an application for leave to apply for a judicial review case.

The State wants the application to be stayed or transferred to Justice Devendra Pathik, pending the outcome of the court's ruling on a constitutional redress case by the same former GCC members.

The court will give a ruling on March 6.
