The Solomon Islands Government is sending 25 students to Cuba for medical training.
The chief government facilitator of the trip, Trevor Unusu, says the students will undertake studies in different medical fields funded by the Cuban government.
And he says another 25 students will leave for Cuba in July once arrangements are finalised.
Meanwhile, 10 medical doctors from Cuba are expected to arrive in Solomon Islands at the end of next month.
Mr Unusu says part of his trip to Cuba is to facilitate arrangements for the doctors.
Solomon Islands and Cuba established diplomatic relations a few years ago.
