The American Red Cross is celebrating 85 years since being established in American Samoa.

The month of March has already been designated as the Red Cross Month and a number of events have been planned.

The celebration starts on Sunday with an inter-denominational Territorial Prayer Service.

The Samoa News reports that the highlight of the month will be The First Annual Red Cross Ball.

The Red Cross is encouraging disaster service providers to don their military and civil uniforms for the ball.
