Two election advisors will be in Fiji from next week to help assess what Fiji needs to ensure it can hold elections in a year's time.

It was announced at the latest meeting, the 24th, of the Pacific Islands/Fiji Joint Working Group, that the two, an Australian and a New Zealander, would identify the gaps in Fiji's resources and what donor assistance is required.

The Working Group was advised that the selection of a Supervisor of Elections post was at an advanced stage, and that an appointment would be made without further delay.

Concerns were also about the deportation of the Fiji Sun editor, Russell Hunter, in terms of the rule of law, due process and protection of fundamental human rights.
