A three-member independent team has been appointed in Fiji to carry out an inquiry into the tax details of the interim Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry.
This comes amid calls for Mr Chaudhry to step down following allegations by local newspapers over local investigations into his tax status.
He has also been accused of not paying appropriate tax on almost $1.5 million held in Australian and New Zealand bank accounts.
The interim Attorney General Aiyaz Saiyed-Khaiyum said they have already carried out more than two days of work and the results are expected soon.
Mr Saiyed-Khaiyum told Fiji Live the investigation would clear the air on this issue, despite a revenue and Customs Authority report filed to the Prime Minister last year clearing Mr Chaudhry of any non-compliance with the income tax act.
