An American nun has drowned while swimming at a beach in Saipan in the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas.
The body of 62-year-old Sister Myriam Phan was found after hours of searching early yesterday [mon nz] following a police report of an overdue swimmer.
She had been working with the Sisters of the Good Shepherd in Minneapolis.
This is the third drowning on Saipan this year.
