Korean man to be buried in American Samoa a year after he died

A Korean man who died in May of last year in American Samoa will finally be given a burial.

The man's body has been in the hospital morgue all this time.

Members of the Korean business community have come forward to plan a funeral and burial for their countryman.

The former Pago Pago Representative Muavaefaatasi Ae Ae Jr. has also been involved in efforts to secure a burial plot for the deceased.

He said that Satele Galu Satele has agreed to have the man buried on family land in Vailoa.

A funeral is being planned for the Korean citizen next Wednesday.

The man has been an inpatient at the LBJ hospital but no one came forward to take responsibility for his body when he died.

The hospital legal counsel said the man's sponsor, an government employee refused to make arrangements for his burial, and they are now considering legal action.
