The Government of the Northern Marianas is being encouraged to bring back unpaid holidays and austerity Fridays for public workers as it continues to spend beyond its means.
Senator Maria Pangelinan says both approaches should be seriously considered in order for the government to recoup the money overspent during the past six months.
Similar austerity measures were put in place for a six month period last year.
