French Polynesia fuel company strike ends

2:42 pm on 28 March 2008

A two week strike at French Polynesia's fuel supply companies has been settled.

The conflict was resolved after protracted negotiations as a tanker ready to offload its cargo delayed its return to Singapore.

The dispute was accompanied by a port strike over the provision of security.

The industrial conflict led to calls by the territorial government for the French state to guarantee a basic supply of fuel.
