The President of Common Cause American Samoa, Ben Teo, is expecting a response from the Secretary of Interior to remove the Lieutenant Governor Ipulasi Aitofele Sunia.

Ipulasi is awaiting trial on federal charges of fraud and bribery.

Mr Teo said he met last week with the Department of Interior's Field Representative and was told that a reply form the secretary is forthcoming.

He said the Representative said the department is taking time on a response to ensure that it is appropriate and is made in the confines of the law.

Mr Teo said his group sent the letter after people approached Common Cause with concerns the Lieutenant governor continues to hold public office given that he is facing federal charges.
