The House of Representatives in American Samoa has approved funding for the undersea fiber optic cable project.

The House had stalled a vote since January while it tried to get more information from the government.

The government's investment in the Pac Rim East Cable, which will connect American Samoa to Hawaii using a cable now servicing New Zealand, is nine million US dollars.

The bill approved by the House includes three million for the fiber optic cable.

The government has to pay the balance of six million by August the 1st.
