A Russian space cargo ship has reportedly been dumped into the South Pacific after completing its mission.

The Progress M-63 ship, which docked with the International Space Station in February, had delivered 2.5 tonnes of cargo including food, equipment and other supplies.

The Russian news agency, Novosti, says the space ship was disposed off over the South Pacific.

A spokesman for mission control told the agency that having partly burned up in the earth's atmosphere, Progress ended its existence in the designated area in the southern Pacific.
