9:17 am on 11 April 2008

The prime ministers of Tonga and Papua New Guinea have arrived in Fiji for talks with the interim prime minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama.

Feleti Sevele and Sir Michael Somare arrived in Nadi on Thursday evening and went to meet the Fiji leader at a nearby hotel.

An official described the meeting as a friendly gathering.

No details of the agenda were relased and there was no media access.

Dr Sevele is the chair of the Pacific Islands Forum which has been pushing for an end to military-led rule in Fiji and an election by March.
