Communication barriers delay investigation into fight in American Samoa

A police investigation into a fight involving Asian fishermen in American Samoa is being held up by language problems.

The Samoa News reported that the case involving a fight between numerous Chinese and Vietnamese fishermen isn't going anywhere due to communication barriers and the fishermen being afraid to talk to local authorities.

The newspaper says at least four fishermen were taken to hospital earlier this month with various injuries sustained during the fight.

Several others were taken into police custody but were released after 36 hours.
