American Samoa has now established its Visitor's Bureau to better promote tourism.
Governor Togiola Tulafono signed into law the bill on April 25, to establish the semi-autonomous agency of the government.
The Governor informed the Fono that it's his belief that this measure represents a more serious approach to tourism, given it is a multi million dollar industry.
With the bill now law, the next step is for the governor to set up a timeline of when changes are made within the Department of Commerce's Tourism Office in order to transfer functions, duties and other assets to the new Bureau.
However, it says that all outstanding liabilities incurred by the Office of Tourism, including contracts and statutory obligations, will remain with the Department of Commerce.
