Fiji Teachers Union president criticises Trades Union Congress executives

The Fiji Teachers Union president is criticising Trades Union Congress executives for also holding board positions under the interim government.

Some executives of the umbrella union, The Trades Union Congress, are also board members of the interim regime's National Provident Fund.

The Teachers Union president says the interim regime doesn't honour agreements signed between the unions and the ousted government.

Bal Ram says the executives are in a clear conflict of interest situation.

"That members of the Fiji Trades Union Congress are sitting on some boards of this interim regime not is good for us as we are affiliates and we are opposing that and the people are sitting down there, on the board, which would mean that they are supporting it."

Bal Ram says the executives should resign from one of the positions.
