Fiji police and immigration officials have been issued a High Court order to produce the publisher of the Fiji Times, Evan Hannah, in court this afternoon at 3 o'clock.

He was removed from his home last night by officers acting on a deportation order reportedly signed by the interim Defense Minister Ratu Epeli Ganilau and the ministry's permanent secretary Malakai Tadulala.

Our correspondent Matelita Ragogo reports.

"As we understand it, he is suppose to be on this 9am flight to Sydney but the lawyers for Fiji Times they have managed to secure a High Court order by Justice Filimoni Jitoko basically ordering that the men who arrested him from his home last night produce him in court and explain the basis of their actions."

Matelita Ragogo says the Fiji Times lawyer, Jon Apted, says copies of the court order have been faxed to various people.
