The Fiji Times publisher Evan Hannah and his Fiji Sun counterpart Russell Hunter will not be allowed to return, it has been revealed.

The Fiji Times reports this followed a meeting between interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama and members of the Fiji Media Council yesterday.

The Fiji Times editor-in-chief Netani Rika, who was at the meeting, said Commodore Bainimarama offered no reason over why Mr Hannah was deported.

He said when the question over Mr Hannah's deportation was raised by council chairman Daryl Tarte, Commodore Bainimarama did not explain the reasons.

Mr Rika said Commodore Bainimarama said it was over and Mr Hannah and Russell Hunter are not coming back.

He said Commodore Bainimarama felt threatened over The Fiji Times' stand following the Mr Hannah's deportation last week.

He said the Commodore was concerned with The Fiji Times stand will continue undeterred by events of the last few days.

Mr Rika said Commodore Bainimarama accused a number of media organisations, including The Fiji Times, of taking critical view of the interim Government.
