Hannah hopes court action will allow him to return to Fiji

The Australian publisher of the Fiji Times, Evan Hannah, who was deported from the country last week, says he is hoping court action today may allow him to return.

The Fiji interim regime has claimed he is a security threat.

Mr Hannah says a hearing in the Fiji High Court will seek a stay of his deportation order and a review of the decision.

He says if the action is successful he may be allowed to return to Fiji immediately but he warns that a legal ruling may not be enough to change the mind of the country's interim Prime Minister, Frank Bainimarama.

On Monday, Commodore Bainimarama was reported as saying the Australian will never be allowed to return.

Mr Hannah says Fiji needs investment, and reports that Commodore Bainimarama had warned that more expatriates were to be deported did not bode well.
