Attempts by lawyers for the interim Fiji Government to have legal action over the deportation of the Australian newspaper publisher, Evan Hannah, dismissed, have failed.
The Attorney General's office on Thursday sought to appeal the High Court's decision not to strike out the original challenge to the deportation, made by Mr Hannah's lawyer.
It had also sought a stay on the High Court proceedings.
But both appeals have been denied and the case is set to resume next Friday.
Our correspondent says the Government will need to explain then why Mr Hannah was deported despite a High Court order stopping it.
