Today marks the eighth anniversary of the 2000 Fiji coup which ousted the one-year old government of Mahendra Chaudhry.
On May the 19th 2000, gunmen of a special military unit seized parliament and held many leaders for eight weeks hostage.
The coup frontman, George Speight, was arrested in late July 2000 and is now serving a life sentence for his role.
