Japan is to fund the construction of an information and communication centre for the University of the South Pacific in Suva.
The USP, the Fiji interim Government and Japan signed a memorandum of understanding earlier this week.
The ICT centre, which will cost nearly 20 million US dollars, will include computer laboratories, conference rooms and a multi-purpose lecture theatre with specialized equipment.
Japan's grant comes after an initial request for assistance from the Fiji government in 1999.
