5-point-4 quake southwest of Samoa

A minor earthquake registering 5.4 on the Richter scale occurred about 250 kilometres southwest of Samoa's capital Apia, yesterday.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said the tremors were not strong enough to generate a tsunami and that no damages or injuries in the region were reported as a result of the earthquake.

The Centre says there is no cause for alarm.
