In the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas, the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation's top official says the agency has managed to convince lawmakers that the increased power rates have enough basis and are therefore legitimate.
CUC executive director, Antonio Muna, says they sat down with the Saipan legislative delegation's Committee on Public Utilities, Transportation and Communications and had some extensive conversations with the members so they would understand what CUC is going through.
He says at this point there's an understanding that what the company is doing is legitimate.
