The Samoa government has put the public broadcaster, Radio 2AP under the control and management of the Ministry of Communication and Technology with a budget of more than 200 thousand US dollars for the next financial year.

The government has recently decided to hold the radio station from the privatization process of the Samoa Broadcasting Corporation's television and an FM radio station which was completed last month.

Radio 2AP continues to provide a public service for government information as well as in times of natural disasters.

Neighboring American Samoa and the Tokelau islands rely on the station for weather reports in times of cyclones.
