The Commonwealth Utilities Corporation now needs US$19-point-7 million until 2010 for the operation and completion of projects to repair and upgrade its power engines.
The CUC's executive director Antonio Muna told the Saipan Tribune yesterday that this was one of the topics they discussed with the visiting Office of Insular Affairs officials on Tuesday.
He says that of the millions they are asking for, only $1.2 million -representing the balance of the U$6.5 million federal funds that have already been given -is currently available.
That US$1.2 million, he says is needed to buy power engine parts, for technical assistance and to pay for ongoing contracts.
