The American Samoa government is chartering the Samoa government boat, Fotu o Samoa to transport cargo and passengers to Manu'a.

The Director of Port Administration, Matagi Ray McMoore, says the Samoa Shipping Corporation vessel will arrive next Monday morning and should set sail for Manua Monday night.

There has not been any sailing to Manua for three weeks as the American Samoa Government boat MV Sili is being dry docked.

Matagi says the vessel will be on the slipway for another two weeks.

Stores are running low on food supplies and cars in Manua have stopped driving because there's no gasoline.

Matagi says the Fotu o Samoa charter will cost close to $20,000.
