A veteran Vanuatu MP, Sela Molisa, has been appointed as the new chairperson of the independent monitoring group for the Fiji People's Charter for Change, Peace and Progress.

The Fiji Times reports that Fiji President, Ratu Josefa Iloilo, announced the appointment yesterday.

Mr Molisa is expected to be in Fiji for the next meeting of the National Council for Building a Better Fiji before the end of the month.

Mr Molisa replaces Geert van der Linden who resigned as chair last month.

The ni-Vanuatu joins Robin Nair of Canberra and Reverend Amy Chambers on the IMG.

The role of the IMG is to monitor the PCCPP process and provide Ratu Josefa with an independent report on the integrity, transparency and robustness of the PCCPP process.
