A New Zealand rugby league player, who wants to play for Samoa in this year's world cup, is to be sentenced over an assault in Britain.

Iafeta Paleaaesina, who plays for Wigan Warriors, is due to be sentenced later today at Liverpool Crown Court on a charge of causing grievous bodily harm resulting from an incident in Wigan on October the 6th last year.

Paleaaesina pleaded guilty and admitted to breaking the jaw of a bus driver, James Campbell.

The incident came soon after Wigan were defeated by Leeds Rhinos in the Super League.
