Niue's MPs will today decide who will lead the country for the next three years following the election 11 days ago.

The 20 member Parliament meets this morning for the first time since the election , in which five of the 11 contested seats returned new members.

Veteran MP, O'Love Jacobsen, says that was a clear signal that people want change and the premier for the past two terms Young Vivian is expected to face a strong challenge today from Toke Talagi.

Sources on the island say Mr Talagi may have the backing of as many as 14 MPs.
