Papua New Guinea Police Commissioner, Gari Baki, has appealed to the people of West New Britain Province to assist police in the capture of prison escapee William Kapris, who is suspected of being involved in a string of armed robberies in various parts of the country

Mr Baki says police have reliable information that William Kapris together with other accomplices are currently in Kimbe in West New Britain Province.

Commissioner Baki said rogue policemen and a number of high profile people have been aiding Kapris to evade arrest.

However, he says police are closing in and expect the imminent arrest of Kapris as well as the rogue policemen and other high profile people involved.

Commissioner Baki has issued a warning to banks and business houses in the province to be more vigilant and to report anyone or anything suspicious to police.
