Solomon Islands National Provident Fund Chairman has quit under the mounting
pressure over the Solomon Telekom workers strike.
Adrian Wickham tendered his resignation on Thursday citing political
pressure from the government over the issue.
The Minister of Finance, Synder Rini has yet to accept his resignation and
is believed to be talking to Mr Wickham about reconsidering his decision.
The strike which enters its second week has severly affected the
telecommunication services being provided to the rural areas and the banks.
Meanwhile, the Solomon Telekom board is yet to make a decision on the demand
by the striking workers that the Chief Executive Officer, Martin Robinson be
removed.
