Solmons Telekom strike ends after eight days

3:20 pm on 26 June 2008

A strike by Solomon Islands Telekom workers has ended.

A spokesperson for the employees has told the Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation that they have made their point, and have now agreed to return to work.

Strike leaders say they appreciated positive assurances that procedural processes are being completed to meet their demand for the removal the company's Chief Executive, Martyn Robinson.

The spokesperson says they valued the support from the government, the NPF and Telekom Boards and the general public during the eight-day strike.

Yesterday, Telekom's main fiber optic links in the capital was cut in what was identified as an act of sabotage.
