New Zealand under 18 dominate in Saipan

The New Zealand under 18 athletics team is dominating their section at the Oceania championships in Saipan in the Northern Marianas.

On the first full day of the bienneal competition, New Zealand picked up gold in the men and women's 4x100 metres relays.

The men's team of Michael Cochrane, Joel Armstrong, Rory Hofmans, and Alex Jordan finished ahead of Australia in a time of 43.60.

The women's foursome of Kelsey Berryman, Tamara, Kathryn Kennedy, and Olivia Blundell took the gold with a time of 50.76.

Danielle Trevis added gold to her cross country silver winning the 3-thousand metres.

Tamara Anstis took gold in the high jump with a leap of 1.67 metres.

New Zealand top the medals with five gold, two silver, and one bronze, ahead of Samoa and Fiji.
