Reporters likely get green light to enter Fiji

A group of ABC reporters initially denied visas to visit Fiji next month will likely be allowed into the country, a Fiji official says.

ABC management has been in negotiations with Fiji's military government after being told the visit, due in mid-July, would not be supported.

The move sparked fears that Fiji's government, which seized power in a military coup in December 2006, may be moving to prevent foreign media from covering events in the country.

But acting Deputy Secretary of Information, Major Neumi Leweni, says the ABC team will likely be allowed in.

He says a decision will be probably be made on Monday.
