Church assembly set for American Samoa next month

6:11 am on 30 June 2008

The first biannual Congregational Christian Church in American Samoa or CCCAS General Assembly is set for early next month.

The gathering is expected to attract more than 300 delegates from Hawai'i, Alaska, the U.S. mainland, Australia and New Zealand.

The CCCAS conference - which will be held at the CCCAS Kanana Fou compound - used to be an annual event, but the charter was changed three years ago and now the event is being held every two years.

The Church's general secretary, Rev. Samuelu Tialavea, said this year's theme "Who is my neighbor" highlights the outlook of the CCCAS church, the largest religious denomination in the territory.
