An Italian solo rower trying to cross the Pacific has been in touch with French Polynesian authorities.
The Tahitipresse news agency says Alex Bellini left Peru 136 days ago and is now near Manihi in the Tuamotu group of islands.
A statement from the sea rescue centre says a plane has flown over the boat and been in contact with Alex Bellini.
He is reportedly in good spirits but is worried that he may run out of Parmesan cheese.
