Solomons seeks more RAMSI information

3:58 pm on 17 July 2008

The Solomon Islands government has asked to be given access to RAMSI's financial and budget reports.

The request was made by the prime minister Dr Derek Sikua at today's meeting of the Forum Foreign Ministers Standing Committee on RAMSI.

The meeting in Honiara has agreed to set up a working group of officials representing the Solomon Islands Government, RAMSI and the Pacific Islands Forum to complete work on a proposed Partnership Framework.

Dr Sikua says future reports should be as detailed as possible to include financial and budget report information.

Dr Sikua says this is required so that it can help with the strategy of phasing out RAMSI which arrived in Solomon Islands five years ago.

Meanwhile, the government says it is pleased with the new reporting format Committee adopted earlier this year as it has improved better communication and understanding of RAMSI activities.
