The company which is buying Star Kist Samoa, Dongwon Enterprise, has named Donald Binotto as President and Star Kist's new CEO.
Mr Binotto has held top management positions at various companies including, Ernst & Ernst, HJ Heinz Co and Delmonte where he was senior vice president.
A statement from Dongwon said that Mr Binotto was largely responsible for the introduction of pouch production in 1999 and a string of over 15 other retail tuna innovations.
Retail pounch represented the first major innovation in canned tuna for over 30 years.
Also during his tenure, Star Kist held record retail market share.
Binotto's appointment will begin as soon as Dongwon completes its acquisition of Star Kist from Delmonte Corporation in the fall of 2008.
Dongwon signed an agreement with Delmonte June 30 to acquire Star Kist Seafood for about US$363 million
