Samoa's controversial switch from driving on the right to the left side of the road will take place officially on Sunday September the 6th next year.
A government statement says the decision to make public the cabinet's
approval for the date should avoid suspicions of members of the public especially the business community.
The date approved by cabinet will coincide with the start of school
holidays as well as the end of the annual Teuila Festival week in
September.
Meanwhile the strike out motion by the Attorney General, Aumua Ming
Leung Wai, against the legal action by people against switching sides, or PASS, has been adjourned to next month.
During a pre-trial hearing of the case the presiding judge, Vui
Clarence Nelson, has granted leave for PASS to amend its legal action
against the new controversial Road Transport law.
This should be done before legal submissions and arguments by both
sides on the strike out motion will be heard on August the 4th.
