9:51 am on 24 July 2008

Officials at the US Air Force base in Guam say none of the six crew members survived Monday's crash of a B-52 bomber off the islands northwest coast.

Search and rescue teams have now shifted their focus from rescue operations to recovery of the bodies of the crew.

Two bodies were recovered on Monday and one has been identified.

The identity of the second crew member is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Air Force forensic analysis specialists also are working towards identifying additional remains recovered.

The aircrew was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana and was deployed in Guam with the 20th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron as part of the Defence Department's continuous bomber presence mission in the Pacific.
