Pacific Arts Festival in American Samoa holds closing ceremony

Fireworks, a final parade of nations and a performance by about 100 fire knife dancers will be part of this evening's activities at the official closing of the 10th Festival of Pacific Arts in American Samoa.

The closing ceremony is about set to get underway with special remarks by the representative of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community, which oversees the organisation of the festival.

The flags of the SPC Council of the Pacific Arts and the 10th Festival of the Pacific Arts - will then be lowered, and Lt. Governor Faoa Aitofele Sunia will present the flags to the Solomon Islands delegation, the host country for the next festival in 2012.

Solomon Islands head of delegation, Robert Au, will deliver remarks and afterwards, the American Samoa and

Solomon delegations will come together for the final threading of the Oceania ula or garland.

American Samoa will then conduct a gift presentation for all participating countries followed by entertainment led by performers from Manu'a.
