The chair of the Pacific Islands Forum, Dr Feleti Sevele of Tonga, has now released the third name of the candidates seeking the post of Forum secretary-general.

He says the acting secretary-general, Feleti Teo of Tuvalu, has been nominated as a candidate by the Tuvalu government to replace Greg Urwin of Australia who retired for health reasons.

The other two candidates are the Cook Islands foreign minister, Wilkie Rasmussen, and Samoa's Tuiloma Neroni Slade, who is a judge of the International Criminal Court in the Netherlands.

Tuiloma was a candidate in 1997 when Forum leaders chose Noel Levi of Papua New Guinea.

Mr Urwin's successor is expected to be chosen at the Forum summit in Niue later this month.
