Fiji cabinet to discuss fuel tax

10:22 am on 12 August 2008

Fiji's Cabinet is expected to discuss the fuel fiscal duty reduction today after an appeal by the Fiji Taxi Union.

The Fiji Times reports that the union is hopeful that Cabinet would discuss their proposal on the fuel issue after its meeting yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Local Shipowners Association says it is looking forward for an increase in the shipping franchise by Cabinet.

President Durga Prasad says the increase in fuel price has really affected them and if the interim government approves duty free on fuel then it would also help them.
