A police constable in Samoa has been suspended by the Police Commissioner, Papalii Lorenese Neru, as a result of an investigation by the Ministry of Police professional standards unit over allegations of sexual harassment involving a 19-year-old woman.

The assistant police commissioner and spokesman, Papalii Li'o, says the inquiry was carried out against the officer some two weeks ago after a complaint was lodged to the police by the Samoa Victim Support group.

According to the support group, the 19 year old is now under its protection and care.

The police spokesperson says the ministry will not tolerate any criminal activity by the police officers.
