Fiji's ousted Prime minister Laisenia Qarase says the people of Fiji will be happy to see the interim finance minister, Mahendra Chaudhry, out of the government.
Mr Chaudhry is leaving the interim government, along with interim Minister for Tourism Tom Ricketts and Local Government Minister Lekh Ram Vayeshnoi, after the decision was unanimously reached at the Fiji Labour Party council meeting.
Mr Qarase says My Chaudhry is just running away from the mess he has made of the economy.
"Even though his exit will be a relief to many people in Fiji, it does not solve our problem. We are now in further uncertain situation. We don't know where the government will go from here, so it will be interesting to see what happens."
Laisenia Qarase says he understands that Mr Chaudhry had been told to go twice already, and believes he is trying to save face by standing down.
