Fiji's interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama will now be the new Finance Minister.

Fiji's Interim Prime Minister has taken over the interim Finance Minister's position following the resignation of Mahendra Chaudhry.

The move adds to Commodore Frank Bainimarama's monopoly on key positions in Fiji as he is also the Head of the Great Council of Chiefs, Head of the Military, as well as the National Council for Building a Better Fiji.

Mr Chaudhry is leaving the interim government, along with interim Minister for Tourism Tom Ricketts and Local Government Minister Lekh Ram Vayeshnoi, after the decision was unanimously reached at the Fiji Labour Party council meeting.

Commodore Bainimarama will now also be responsible for National Planning.
