Samoa's Head of State, Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi, is the first Pacific
Islander to become patron of the newly formed Pacific Leadership Foundation.
The foundation was established after the successful completion of the first Emerging Pacific Leaders conference two years ago.
The head of state was chosen for the position because he had a distinguished
career of public service following the examples provided by previous holders
of the royal paramount title he currently holds.
Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese now takes over from HRH Princess Anne, of the United Kingdom who was the previous patron.
